Nigeria’s health minister Onyebuchi Chukwu has today confirmed the first recorded death from Ebola in Port Harcourt Nigeria. The doctor, who has yet to be named, died on Friday.
The victim a Nigerian doctor was infected when he treated diplomat, primary contact of Patrick Sawyer, the Liberian-American who brought the dreaded disease to Nigeria.
The diplomat after evading the Federal Government surveillance team had travelled out of Lagos to Port Harcourt where he consulted the doctor and was apparently treated for some symptoms is still alive.
It was also confirmed that the doctor's wife and 70 more people were placed under surveillance.
